OET (Occupational English Test) is an English language test designed for healthcare professionals. It assesses the language communication skills of healthcare professionals who wish to register and practice in an English-speaking environment. OET covers 12 different healthcare professions, including medicine, nursing, dentistry, and pharmacy. The test evaluates the four language skills—listening, reading, writing, and speaking—with test content tailored to real-world tasks specific to the healthcare industry.
OET tests healthcare-specific English skills in four areas: listening, reading, writing, and speaking. The test is available as both paper-based and computer-based, depending on location. Candidates must complete four sections to be graded on a scale from A to E, with A being the highest score.
Listening Section: 3 parts, Time Allotted - 45 mins.
Reading Section: 3 parts, Time Allotted - 60 mins.
Writing Section: Time Allotted - 45 mins, Letter writing based on workplace situations.
Speaking Section: Time Allotted - 20 mins, Role-play with an interlocutor.
